Ladies and gents, and surfers:
This item on the Nueces County Commissioners Court agenda for Wednesday, October 20:
No action needed, just know we may soon have a cool hangout on the north side of the existing Barnacle Bill’s restaurant on Bob Hall Pier. Think Santa Barbara or Santa Monica piers, and you would be close, … except for the size of the pier and quality of the waves.
It may be a little tougher to wade over to the ski lift, I mean rip, alongside the pier, but at least there will be more cars in the parking lot! Kidding – I think it will be great. Hope the food is good.
No public comment needed at the meeting. It’s all approved by Park Board, Commissioners Court, City, and US Army Corps of E, and the plan is to start construction right away. Just wanted you to know what is coming.
Feel free to pass along the news.
Maybe South Padre Island will want to rebuild the old Andy Bowie Pier with a restaurant… even a Ferris wheel… they could call it an erosion control project…at least it’s cheaper than an artificial reef, and better for the surf quality.
Hasta luego,
Federico
