Oil Party!!

For Immediate Release

7/5/10

Re: 'impromtu' Art Show for Oil Cleanup

If you want something done right, you have to do it yourself! And that is exactly what Jon Steele did on June 2nd at the House of Rock in Corpus Christi TX. Steele and a group talented of artists got together to raise money for the Gulf of Mexico Oil Spill Cleanup. With an amazing turnout for a great cause local artists displayed and sold their finest works to help clean up their own backyard.
Tired of hearing "help is on the way", this group decided to take matters into their own hands and start making cleanup happen ASAP! With a silent auction of works from Austin artist Paul Fucik and John Olvey donating original works along with the Pilates Center of Corpus Christi and Newport local band Will Crum donating time and an amazing set all for a good cause.
In a true Texan friendly fashion (Texas is derived from the Indian word Tejas, meaning "Friend") percentages of the proceeds are being divided to the local Gulf bretheren chapter of Surfrider Florida chapter as well as Texas' own chapters for clean up. "If you're not part of the solution, then you are part of the problem" Steele reminds us as he and the local Texans artists are upset about the way the oil spill is being treated or lack of treatment. The Gulf is vital to the livelihood of all of us in the Gulf of Mexico and we are taking this very serious and head on as to preserve our way of life and that of our childrens' future in the Gulf." Everyone should be allowed to enjoy the beauty, life and surf that is abundant in the Gulf of Mexico.
For more information or to help get involved, contact Jon Steele or get in touch with your local Surfrider Foundation and start conservation at the grass roots level. A huge thanks goes out to the sponsors of the show; Covered Up Surf and Skate, Casey at the House of Rock, Sector 9 skateboards, Infinity surfboards and all the presenting artists.
